AP Calculus Summer Assignment
AP Calculus AB Summer Packet
o This is your AP Calculus summer packet; it is due the Friday you get back to school (September 7, 2007). There are 17 questions in this packet, giving a brief overview of topics you have covered in pre-calculus (and maybe some other courses) that I feel you need to be comfortable with when you start AP Calculus.
o Do not skip problems that you do not know how to solve. Instead, look at your notes from previous classes (if you have lost those, you might find the websites: http://www.purplemath.com/modules/index.htm and http://www.mathematicshelpcentral.com/index.html to be helpful resources).
o I do not suggest completing this packet at the beginning of the summer, instead start it closer to when you will be returning to school. This way you are already familiar with the information when school starts. You do not want to complete this packet at the beginning of summer and then be unfamiliar with the material when you get back to school.
o We will spend some time the first week of classes going over any questions people have on the material covered in this packet. Come prepared to ask questions on anything that you were unable to solve on your own or with the help of additional resources.
o This is a 50 point assignment, so take it seriously. In addition, there will also be a short test (another 50 points) on this material the second week of classes.
o You are allowed to get help from other students who will be taking AP Calculus with you, but be sure you understand the material on your own. It will not help you if you copied someone else’s worksheet.
