Current Events Pre-writing Graphic Organizer

Current Event Summary Directions and Rubric

Two science-related current event summaries are due each quarter.  All of the dates for the year are posted on my webpage calendar.

Due dates are assigned and students are given approximately 1-2 weeks to complete their summaries. Students may turn their summaries in early and earn extra points toward their summary grade. 

Current Events are graded according to a rubric and count as quiz grades.

 A copy of the science current event summary directions and rubric sheet is available for you to download.

This document provides the criteria that will be used to grade each student's science learning log. Learning logs will be collected periodically throughout the quarter and evaluated using this criteria. The grade will be weighted based on the number of weeks since it was last graded. The grade will be considered part of the student's daily graded assignments because it is used each day in class. (File available for download)

This  graphic organizer can be used to help students gather the information need to complete their science-related current events summaries. All students must complete a prewriting assignment before they write their summaries. This is one format that can be used. This file is available for download in the files section of my web page.
