Grasso Tech Special Education
The Grasso Technical High School Special Education Department provides services for students who have been identified as having one or more of the following exceptionalities who require direct specialized instruction to benefit from the regular education program:

Through a program that increases compensatory skills, remediates deficits, and encourages self-advocacy, students participate in heterogeneously grouped classes and shops where they are supported through direct instruction, cooperative teaching, consultation, collaboration, counseling, and related services.
A key component of the strategies instruction program is the Math/Language Arts Lab. During the shop cycle, every student receives implicit instruction in learning strategies that are then utilized in their content area classes. Deficit skill areas are identified and remediated in this setting.
Special education programs are planned individually, depending on the needs of each student. No changes in a child’s educational plan will be made without parental knowledge and consent, which is given at a Planning and Placement Team meeting of professionals, the parent, and student.
Many students come to Grasso with their difficulties already identified. However, we also discover students who have not previously been identified yet require special education at the high school level.
