Grading and Assessment
Vocabulary development is an essential part of our reading curriculum. Each week students will be tested over a given set of words. Students will begin working in class with their word list on Mondays. However, word lists will be sent home the previous Friday as part of our weekly class newsletter. Students will need to practice these words nightly.
Each Friday, students will be assessed/tested over that week's words. Students are expected to be able to read each word and they are not expected to spell these words. Students are given 5 seconds to read each word. At the end of five seconds, the word will be counted as an incorrect response and scored appropriately.
