Performance Policy

Band Performance Policy Spring 2010

ALL PERFORMANCES ARE MANDATORY FOR EVERY STUDENT.

PERFORMANCES ARE 30% OF YOUR FINAL GRADE.

ALL STUDENTS THAT ATTEND WILL RECEIVE A 100.

ALL ABSENT STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE A 60.

THE FOLLOWING EXCUSES WILL BE ACCEPTED:

 1.Death in the family

2. Extreme illness, accident or surgery.

3. Religious beliefs or events.

If one of the above excuses fits your situation you should let Mr. Mitchell know PRIOR to the performance if possible.  All excuses should be in written form, signed by a parent and turned into Mr. Mitchell.

All other absences will be considered unexcused and will need to be made up.  Make up for performances will be assigned as written essays due two days after the performance.  People who make up the performance will be given partial credit (93).  There is no real way to substitute for a real performance.  Therefore only partial credit will be given.

Every student is vital to the success of the band.  Please stay informed of upcoming events . If you have any questions or comments please email Mr. Mitchell at mitchellb4@k12tn.net  or call 840-3902 ext. 5584.

 Thanks,

 Brad Mitchell

Make up work for missed performances

Make up work for Missed Performance on August 25, 2011,

Due Monday August 29, 2011

Write the following 2 paragraphs followed by a 2 page essay on the subject

All effective teams develop rules of conduct at the outset to help them achieve their purpose and performance goals. The most crucial initial rules pertain to attendance (for example, "no interruptions to take phone calls"), discussion ("no sacred cows"), confidentiality ("the only things to leave this room are what we agree on"), analytic approach ("facts are friendly"), end-product orientation ("everyone gets assignments and does them"), constructive confrontation ("no finger pointing"), and, often the most important, contributions ("everyone does real work").

Write a story about a team in which one or more characters break one or more of the above rules, which has a negative effect on another member of the team.

Make up work for missed performance 9-8-11  Due Monday 9-12-11

Write a one page essay about each prompt.

1.  Write an essay about the relationship between your age and

level of responsibility. How do responsibilities differ for people

your age and for older adults? How has your sense of

responsibility changed as you have gotten older? At what age

should we become totally responsible and accountable for our

actions?

2. Describe what this society might be like if no one was

accountable for their actions or kept their commitments
