E. A. Cox Cougar Band

Hello all,

Mid-State band auditions are this Saturday December 11, 2010.  If you are planning on auditioning, I must hear you play before Saturday.  I will be honest and let you know if you are ready or not. If I do not feel you are ready then you should wait until next year to audition.     If you have decided not to audition you need to let me know ASAP.  Audition fees will not be refunded in either case.  If you choose not to go but have not paid you must still pay as the band has already paid your fee and must be reimbursed. 

For those that will attend, make sure you have paid your $10 audition fee.  Some of you have not yet. Make sure you turn in a permission slip before Saturday.   We will meet at Cox Middle School at 6:30 am on Saturday in the band room.  We will be riding the bus with Whitthorne to McGavok High School in Nashville.  Once there the kids will get in line for an audition time.  DO NOT GET OUT OF THIS LINE!!!  They will be given a number and will then find the audition room.  Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet and Percussion have two rooms while everything else has only one.  Students will warm up in the designated area only.  DO NOT PLAY YOUR INSTRUMENT IN THE HALLWAYS!  Watch for your audition time.  Be outside the audition room a few number ahead of yours.  After you play, stay in the designated areas only.  The ACT is being given in the other half of the school and we do not want to disturb those students.  I will be judging so as soon as everyone on that rode the bus and I have finished judging we will return to Cox.  It will probably be around 5 pm or so.  Please have someone that can be reached by cell phone and be available for pick up. 

There will be a concession stand and t-shirts and stuff for those interested.  Make sure you have money for food.  This is huge honor to audition for Mid-State.  You are representing the school and yourself.  Good behavior is expected and bad behavior will not be tolerated.  If you bring ipods and things, they are your responsibility.  Many ipods and such have walked off on such trips.  It’s your call but I will not be held responsible.

You will know if you made it on Saturday.  They will post many results while we are still there.  If you don’t know before we leave, you can check www.mtsboa.org for results.

 September 30, 2011 -  8^th grade night at Central High School (ALL 8^th graders invited)

 December 5, 2011 -  Christmas parade (7^th and 8^th grade Columbia time TBA)

 December 10, 2011- Mid-State auditions (7^th and 8^th grade Nashville time TBA)

 December 13, 2011 – Holiday Concert (All grades 6:30 CMS)

 January 5-7, 2012 -  Mid-State band (any 7^th and 8^th grader that makes it)

 February 7, 2011 -  Solo and Ensemble (any student @ Central)

 March 1-2, 2012 – Concert Performance Assessment (7^th and 8^th grade. During school)

 March 12-14, 2012 - Concert Performance Assessment (7^th and 8^th grade. During school)

 April 14, 2012 – Mule Day Parade (7^th and 8^th grade. Time TBA)

 May 8, 2012 – Spring Concert (ALL grades 6:30 @ CMS)
