All About Me
My name is Ms. Smith. This is my 5th year here at Harris Accelerated Elementary School. This is my second year teaching 1st grade. I am very excited about working with each and everyone of your children. I am the mother of two wonderful children. My son's name is Kaleb and he is 10 years old. My daughter's name is Grace and she is 7 years old. They keep me pretty busy!
When I am not at school I enjoy hanging out with my family, reading, and sports. My favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potters books and Stefanie Meyer, who wrote the Twighlight series. I am also a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals! I am currently attending Southern Illinois University to get my masters in Literacy. I hope to become a Literacy Specialist.
Maternity Leave
Dear Parents,
As most of you know, I am expecting and am scheduled to have the baby on November 16th. Therefore, my last day will be November 15th. I will be out for a total of twelve weeks, which makes my anticipated date of return February 6th. Mrs. Tyler will be filling in for me while I am on leave. She is a very enthusiastic teacher who shares my passion for teaching. She will be a welcomed part of our family here at Harris Elementary. Mrs. Tyler will join our class starting on November 14th so she can become accustomed to our rules and routines.
