Chocolate Chip Cookies   - The extra credit cookie offer will expire on Thursday, April 11th.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla .Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.  Pack up neatly, and bring to class for extra credit.

 

   Okay, perhaps baking is not up your alley.  You don't wish to bake for the class.   Fine then, be difficult.  Extra credit can be earned the 'ol fashioned way too.  There's this writing contest at olchs and you can earn up to 10 extra credit points.  Here's the  skinny: 

National Library Week - 2008

Earn up to 10 points of extra credit points, by entering the National Library Week Contest.  Write a short story, poem, or song lyrics about this year's theme, "Pets Complete the Circle." Include how pets can make a difference in the lives of people around them. Tell a pet story, write about how wonderful, strange, or exotic your pet is, or describe an event involving animals; tell what your pet has taught you or have your pet do the talking! All entries must be typed and double spaced!
