October Lessons--Ask your second grader!
This month, we are doing some beginning notation reading. We read the book Freddie the Frog and the Thump in the Night which introduced us to the notes of the treble clef staff. Ask your child about Freddie's adventures!
Most classes will be having "Popsicle Parties" the week of October 12th. The others will have their's as soon as they earn 20 good behavior points.
We are beginning to learn the songs for our second grade Christmas musical--How the Penguins Saved Christmas. We will be performing the musical on the evening of December 17th. More information will follow soon.
During the month of September, we learned Patriotic Songs. We learned some traditional songs and some newer songs from our textbook and other sources. Some of the songs we learned include America (My Country 'tis of Thee), Yankee Doodle, and America, I Hear You Singing. Ask your child about the songs we learned and discuss with them what being a "Patriot" means.
