Fundraisers

I have had several children and parents ask if I am planning a fund raiser this year.  I am not sure.  I can tell you that we will not be selling cheesecakes again!  I don't ever want to sell anything that requires refrigeration again!  One product I have been looking into is specialty pasta.  No one around here sells that item, so I think it could be successful.  Another item I am considering is locally made specialty jams and jellies.  I met the lady that makes them at Coweta Christmas in November, and her products are great.  Check back for more information later in the fall.

Classroom Incentives and Discipline

In my classroom this year, I have initiated some new incentives and a new discipline program.  The class incentive this year will continue to be a popsicle party with a movie musical.  The musicalthis year will be "Mary Poppins."  The classes will earn a party once they have earned 20 behavior points.  They may earn up to 3 points per week.  The goal is to have a party each nine weeks.  I am still in need of popsicles for the parties (see classroom supplies page for details).

I am very excited about the individual behavior incentive this year.  The owner of our local Stevi B's Pizza has generously offered certificates for free kids buffets for me to use.  I will choose one child each week in each class to receive the buffet certificate.  To be eligible for the certificate, the child is expected to demonstrate outstanding behavior and citizenship and participate willingly in all classroom activities.  I hope to be able to present at least one certificate to each child by the end of the year, determined by his/her participation and behavior.

My discipline plan is simple.  The child receives one warning.  On the second offense, they must sign our behavior log (K & 1st are handled by me).  The next offense results in a note home and again signing the log book.  The fourth offense results in signing the log book a third time, a parent phone call and removal from the classroom during the popsicle and musical party.  Those children will be sent to STOP.  Of course, serious offenses will result in an immediate office referral and possible loss of party privileges.
