Letter to Parents- Boosterthon

Dear Parents,

I am so excited to share with you the possibility for earning money that
can be used to directly impact your students in our classroom this year!
The Boosterthon Fun Run has an incentive program that offers 10% of
pledges made to our team (students in our homeroom class) back to us for
classroom use.  That means if the students in our class were to raise a
combined total of $1000, we would receive $100 to use on classroom
supplies for your children this year.  As budgets are being seriously cut,
this is a wonderful opportunity for us!

Here are some items that would be immediately beneficial to your students:

* Portable Listening Centers
* Leapster, Leap Pad, and Geo Safari Learning Games
* Wipe-off Boards, Markers, Erasers for student work and response
* Instant Learning Centers / Games for Reading, Language, and Math
* Hot Dots Reading/Phonics Cards
* Listen and Learn Phonics for long vowels and letter clusters
* Trade books and chapter books for classroom and homework use
* Replacement headphones as needed for listening centers

These are among just a few of the possibilities!

Please continue to help your child ask for pledges for our Fun Run to be
held Wednesday, November 4th at Anniston.  As always, I thank you so very
much for your support of our school and classroom activities!  Your
commitment is always appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Chambliss

Homework for 2nd Term

Parents,

Please note that the homework for the 2nd term is different than for first term.  Students will be expected to read each night for 15-20 minutes with an adult and study spelling, vocabulary, red words, and math facts.  Math facts should also be written each night.  Reading logs must be signed each night and returned to school the following day.

Thank you for your support.  You will find more information and requirements for the Polar Express Reading Celebration in the Homework Section of this website.

Thanks!

Mrs. Chambliss

Meet the Teacher

Hello and welcome to our class webpage!  My name is Mrs. Chambliss, and I am a first grade teacher.   I have experience teaching fifth grade, second grade, first grade, and kindergarten students.  I have been teaching for 16 years, and I especially love teaching young children.  I have a passion for teaching children how to read and how to develop a love for reading.  I truly believe that children are able to do wonderful things when they not only learn to read, but LOVE to read.  The world around them becomes an open book, and the power to learn anything is in their hands!

I also love teaching children Math through hands-on and meaningful experiences.  Children learn faster and take ownership of skills when what they are learning is meaningful and can be related to everyday life.  That is my "secret" for making math fun!  I look forward to the learning adventures that are in store for your child.
