Dear  Parents,

AR- Accelerated Reader is a part of our reading curriculum.  Students are required to check out 2 library books bi-weekly that have the blue AR label on them and read the books.  After reading the books, they take the computer test which is usually 5 questions and 10 questions for a longer chapter book.   They immediately know at the end of the test if they have passed or not.  A score of 3,4, or 5 is passing and with 10 questions a passing score would be 6,7,8,9, or 10.  They have a specific goal to meet by the end of the grading period.  The goal changes each grade period.  You can check their progress by using the information outlined in the parent letter sent home the week of Oct. 18th.  Make sure the students have read the book completely and understand all the information and then they may take the test.  You may have some books at home that are AR.  Read them and bring them to school and we can check the title for a test.  Several AR  links below.  Good Luck.
