Parkview High School Health Syllabus
Course Description:
This class is designed to help students become more aware of issues and topics, which have an effect on their lives each day. The class will include the following topics: nutrition, mental and social health, prevention of substance abuse, CPR/First Aid, prevention and control of disease, STD’s, HIV/AIDS.
Materials:
Students should have paper and something to write with everyday. Book will be provided in classroom. They will need to bring in a notebook to keep their health papers in.
Expectations:
- Be on time to class.
- Always be prepared with materials.
- Always have great attitude and respect others.
- Respect the environment and class supplies.
- Follow all school rules involving food, gum, drink, cell phones, and CD players.
Attendance:
Attendance is a vital part of your responsibility towards Health class. You are expected to be in class everyday, unless you are sick. Everyday you miss; you are expected to see the teacher about your missed assignments. You will be given 2 days to complete and turn in assignment or it becomes a zero. If you need extra instruction from the teacher, you are welcome to schedule a conference with him before or after school to help with your missed assignments.
Grading Procedures:
- Daily work 35%
- Tests and quizzes 45%
- Performance exam 5%
- Final exam 15%
