As of the 2011-2012 school year, the state assessment has changed.  The TAKS test is being replaced by the STAAR test.  The new test is more rigorous in many ways.  Click the link, http://www.tea.state.tx.us/student.assessment/staar/, to access official information from the Texas Education Agency.

Seventh graders will take 3 STAAR tests: Writing, Reading, and Math.  You can expect a busy year in ELA, as we will be preparing for the Writing and the Reading STAAR tests!
