8th Grade Assignment

Sunshine Receives Bronze Medal

U.S.News & World Report—in collaboration with School Evaluation Services, a K-12 education and data research and analysis business that provides parents with education data on schoolmatters.com—analyzed academic and enrollment data from more than 21,000 public high schools to find the very best across the country. These top schools were placed into gold, silver, bronze, or honorable mention categories. A Bronze Medal accomplishment indicates that the school does not offer Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate programs or does not achieve a College Readiness Index of 20, however, does successfully meet the other two key performance indicator criteria.  Fifty-four (54) schools within Alabama received medals, 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 50 Bronze. Sunshine is the only school in Hale County to receive this honor. (Best_Schools)

A Celebration of Today's Writers...

Earlier this year students from Sunshine entered a poetry contest sponsored by Creative Communication.  Ebonee Hood's poem has been found worthy of publication.  Congratulations Ebonee!  Only the best poems are selected for this honor.  This poetry contest is not a contest where every entry is invited to be published.  At this time, Ebonee's submitted poem will be published in Creative Communication's anthology, A Celebration of Poets.  She is also still eligible to receive an award for a Top Ten Poem and receive a portion of the $3000 in prizes.
