9-13-11 Wolcott Tech vs Kaynor Tech at Kaynor

WOLCOTT TECH PRESS RELEASE JV GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Game Score 2-0 (22-25, 13-25) Kaynor Won

The young junior varsity squad started their season with a 2-0 loss to Kaynor Tech of Waterbury. The jv team this year consists of 1 returning sophomore, 4 new sophomores, and 11 freshman.

 Haley Farrington had 6 aces, Ali Campbell had 2 aces, Michele Langan had 4 aces, Felicia MacDonald and Nicole Higgins both had one ace per person.

 Stepping into the court for the first team wearing the Wildcat uniforms were Emily Andrews, Jessica Bielefield, Lydia Carson, Casey Farrington, Cassie Garbin, Paige Parsons, Kimmie Stack, Sam Tracy and Lillie Weaver.

 Coach Tanguay and Coach Lent were happy to see some aggressive serving and the girls worked hard at blocking the ball at the net.

 The jv team thought the first game jitters got the best of them, and have learned how to focus on the game and disregard the butterflies they developed. They are looking forward to an improved game on Thursday, as they travel to Emmett O’Brien Tech in Ansonia.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team traveled to O’Brien Tech for their first win of the season.

Haley Farrington had 2 aces, 1 block, 2 kills; Ali Campbell had 1 ace 10 assists; Michele Langan had 2 digs, Felicia MacDonald had 10 aces; Nicole Higgins had 3 digs; Emily Andrews had 2 aces, 1 dig; Jessica Bielefield had 1 dig: Lydia Carson had 2 digs: Casey Farrington had 2 aces; Cassie Garbin had 1 ace, 2 digs; Tori Nelson had 1 block; Lilly Weaver had 1 dig; Sam Tracy had 2 digs and Kimmie Stack had 1 kill, 1 ace, and 1 block.

 

The Lady Wildcat Coaching Staff is pleased that the girls continue to grow as a young volleyball team. They are working hard at their passing skills and court transition. The future is bright for these young ladies as they continue to learn the game.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team opened their first home game of the season with a loss to Classical Magnet of Hartford..

Ali Campbell lead the team with her setting skills and team unity. Great defense was played by Nicole Higgins, Haley Farrington, Casey Farrington, Sam Tracy, and Cassie Garbin. Kimmie Stack, Emily Andrews, and Tori Nelson brought great net play and great swings at the ball. Felicia MacDonald brought a great serving game tonight.

 The coaching staff is glad that the girls continue to work on the net game to block and spike the ball. The court coverage and transition gets better every day. The coaching staff wishes the girls a restful weekend and are looking ahead to the challenges of Gilbert, Kaynor, and Lewis Mills.

 The coaching staff is pleased with the performance of the team on the court. They continue to watch their older volleyball sisters play during the varsity game to learn how to play at the next level. Their goal is continue the tradition of solid defense and net play by the varsity team when these girls get older. There is no doubt in our minds, that these jv players will make one very competitive varsity team in the very near future.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team lost to Kaynor Tech in two games at the Wolcott Tech Gym..

Kaynor Tech brought a fast paced game to the gym, and the young Wildcats answered back the best they could, but came up short in the end. Taking lessons from their older volleyball sisters on the varsity team, the jv squad quickly rebounded after the game to reorganize themselves to learn from their mistakes and put a game plan in place to prepare for the rest of the season.

 During the postgame discussion, the coaches and players decided to have a more thorough team meeting before and after each game to mentally prepare for the upcoming challenge from the opposition. This strong leadership for a very young jv squad shows the determination and dedication required to build a championship program in very near future.

 The coaching staff is very proud of the maturity level of this jv program and is looking forward to practice tomorrow.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team fought its first 3 game set to come up a little short with a loss to Lewis Mills High School.

Lewis Mills brought a very aggressive serving and net game to the Wolcott Tech Gym tonight. The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team answered back the best they could, and ran a different lineup than they are used to. Every Tech player was up to the challenge and learned a lot of useful information to use on the volleyball court next week.

  The JV Squad also learned a lot about determination from watching the varsity game tonight. Their big sisters on the court never lost sight of their goals and remained focused. The JV Squad cheered constantly and loudly and became a big part of the victory as well. They learned about transition, the importance of aggressive serving and defending the net.

 Playing well for the JV Squad tonight was Ali Campbell, Sam Tracy, Felicia MacDonald, Kimmie Stack, Emily Andrews, Nicole Higgins, Casey Farrington, Michelle Langan, Lydia Carlson, Bethany Christinat, Page Nelson, Tori Nelson, and Haley Farrington,

 In summary, lessons learned today will lead to a better tomorrow. The coaching staff wishes the girls a restful and relaxing weekend.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team lost to Abbott Tech in two games at the Wolcott Tech Gym.

The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball team brought their best passing game of the season to the gym tonight. They have been working hard at getting quality passes to the setter.

 They continue to work on their serving accuracy and court presence to avoid some communication errors which tend to slow our progress. However, their commitment to excellence and continuing the trend set by their older volleyball sisters on the varsity team will lead them into the right direction.

 They are looking forward to reviewing the game tape tomorrow during practice to discover what areas we will need to focus on during practice to make us a better team.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team won a big match against Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury on Tuesday night.

The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball brought a new lineup, new setting offense, and introduced a libero position to our team, came back from being down 10 points in both games to beat a very solid Nonnewaug Girls Volleyball team.

 The team has come together as a united front, worked the net, found aggressive serving and established communication skills to make them a comprehensive team.

 Playing well for the Wildcats were Felicia MacDonald with 11 aces; Emily Andrews with 3 aces; Ali Campbell with 3 aces; Haley Farrington with 2 aces and Sam Tracy had 1 ace. Kimmie Stack brought great defense to the net, Casey Farrington brought great sets and offense, while Nicole Higgins brought intense defense to the game. We welcome Haley Farrington as the Libero to the JV Wildcat lineup.

 The coaching staff is proud of the accomplishments these ladies have made together as a group and are looking forward to the challenges of Capital Prep and Bloomfield on Thursday and Friday.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team traveled to Meriden and suffered a loss to a very talented Wilcox Tech JV Team.

The young lady Wildcats are still growing into their jv spots on the team. They are learning how to develop court confidence and the importance of communication, teamwork, and sacrifice to become a competitive program in the future.

 Their lessons learned today will help them as they face Emmett O’Brien and Terryville HS on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball rebounded from the game yesterday with a victory over O’Brien Tech in the Wolcott Tech Gym.

The Lady Wildcats worked together very well, focusing on transition, higher passes and court coverage. Together, they are building a solid foundation to become a varsity program in the very near future. They tend to play better while running the 6-2 offense and many players are stepping up their game on offense and defense as well. The entire team is looking forward to the Terryville game tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm at Terryville HS.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball finished their third game in a row with a loss to Terryville HS.

In spite of the loss on the scoreboard, many good things happened in today’s game. The team has improved greatly on their serves and transition. Kimmie Stack has made great strides on her blocking, while Sam Tracy has developed a very aggressive front row attacks and had quite a few aggressive dives on the floor to save the ball. Nicole Higgins has worked hard and improved her defensive skills.

 The team will have a late practice tomorrow from 4 to 7 to focus on technique training to make them a better team. They continue to grow as a team and the future looks bright.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team traveled to Abbott Tech for their first game of the week with a loss to Abbott Tech.

After experimenting with a new lineup, the younger girls who attended the late practice on Friday night were rewarded with valuable court time. These young ladies worked hard during the 4 to 7pm practice on passing, serving and digging the ball, and worked out a new lineup involving Lily Weaver and Lydia Carlson as setters.

The team quickly discovered how much pressure there is while running an offense and learned to how to deal with that stress on the court. This valuable insight will make them better players in the future.

During the second game, we ran with the regular starting lineup and had to make some adjustments for some players who were not up to the task at hand. The subs did a great job of replacing these players during the second game.

The team is looking forward to a great skills practice tomorrow from 6 to 8pm.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team traveled to Lewis Mills for their route 4 rival game with a 2-0 loss.

The game started out with the loss of Libero Haley Farrington to a pulled muscle that will leave her sidelined for the rest of the season. Everyone on the team wishes her a speedy recovery, as her court presence is a valuable asset to our program.

 The girls quickly pulled together as a team and settled down with the lineup change and played a great first game. Emily Andrews aggressive serving brought the team back into the game, eating up a nine point deficit.

 Sam Tracy continues to improve her net play and will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. The team continues to grow into a cohesive program that will continue the tradition that our senior girls have set.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team worked thru a new lineup tonight with a loss to Terryville HS.

After losing our libero, Haley Farrington for the season due to a strained quad muscle, Nicole Higgins stepped up to the plate to take over the libero responsibility. Bethany Christinat played a great game until rolling her ankle in the second game.

 This young jv team continues to grow and develop into their own. With a majority of our players in grade 9, they are playing against other teams that are composed of grade 10 and 11 players. With this in mind, our job is to continue raising the level of our play to that on the other side of the net. The girls are committed to continue improving their physical and mental aspects of the game to become a respected and competitive team as they grow together as a unified team.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team traveled to Hartford to defeat Classical Magnet HS in two games.

The JV Lady Wildcats played their best game of the season today in the Classical Magnet Gym. After spending a lot of time in practice yesterday working on passing and offense, they brought those skills onto the court for the first time as a unified team.

 The transition off the net was the best yet, as well as the passing game they brought with them.

The freshman team won their game as well. All of the players and coaches are very proud of their accomplishments together as a volleyball family.

 The girls are excited about their Pink-Out Game tomorrow night in the Wolcott Tech Gym vs Northwestern HS with a 4pm jv start followed by varsity.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team played their first Pink-Out Game with a victory over Northwestern HS.

Over the past few weeks, the young jv team has been trying to find the right combination and lineup to make a competitive program, and after two very successful games in a row, we have found it.

The girls played an amazing game tonight with strong serving, great setting, swift transition and aggressive net play. Over the past few weeks, the coaches and team have worked very hard in practice, have been committed to make continuous improvement and increase communication between the team and coaching staff.

We are proud to say that we, as a team, are all heading in the same direction and the girls have molded into a cohesive program. Their communication skills improve all the time, along with their game play.

We have met our team goal of becoming a very good JV team, and have all agreed it is time to go to the next level and work on becoming the next very good varsity team.

The coaching staff wants to thank the team for their efforts on the Pink-Out Game and wishes then a very restful weekend off.

Our final thought - thanks to the girls for putting up with the coaching staff, but we all realize, that together, we make one very awesome volleyball family.

 The Wolcott Tech JV Girls Volleyball Team played their first game in 9 days with a loss to Nonnewaug High School.

The girls continue to improve their volleyball skills at every game, and they continued their efforts today. We were fortunate to have a triple header game today, with a freshman, jv, and varsity match, so a lot of playing time was had by all of the players.

They have worked hard all season to challenge the varsity team in practice, and although this task took a few weeks longer than expected, they never lost sight of their goal and accomplished this task. They are developing into a great jv team.

We are looking forward to challenging varsity in practice to help prepare them for the tournament on Thursday.
