Classroom Agreement

Mrs. Riendeau’s Class

Welcome to Mrs. Riendeau’s social studies class for the 2011-2012 school-year. I will be returning mid-October and expect that students are on their best behavior in the meantime. The following are the rules and procedures for this school year. Please note changes if you have had one of my classes in the past.

Please sign and return TOMORROW, this will be a homework grade.

Materials

Everyday, you are expected to have: A notebook/paper to write on, your textbook, and a writing utensil such as a pencil, or black/blue ink pen. You must also bring in a 1-subject spiral notebook that will be left in my classroom. This notebook will be used for your daily warm-up activities and will be graded as a quiz each cycle.

Participation

Your participation grade starts as soon as the bell rings. Remembering the above listed materials is a start. Following instructions and taking notes when appropriate is important to not only your participation grade but also your success on quizzes and tests. Class will start on most days with a “bell ringer”, you are expected to come in, grab your notebook from the bin, and start the assigned bell ringer.

Grading Policy           -

Homework                   10%

Class work                   20%

Quizzes                                    40%

Tests/Projects               30%

Participation                 Affects your final grade- (could be the difference between a B and an A)

Late Work

Homework assignments are out of 20 points. Homework is expected on its due date, during class. It will be accepted up to 3 days after the due date, however, you will get 5 points off of your homework grade for each day it is late. Any other take home assignments will have different penalties, so please see me if there is any question about an assignment being late.

Make-ups

Make up tests or quizzes will be given on the day you return to class, or will be scheduled for another day upon your return to class. If you fail to find me and schedule a make-up a quiz or exam within TWO DAYS of your return to school it will result in ten points off of that test/quiz grade; with an additional five points off for each day after.

Absences

You are responsible for missed work, including notes and homework assignments, during your absence. You may ask either me or a fellow student for the days missed assignments. Homework assignments due the day you were absent are due the day you return. Overnight homework assignments given the day you were absent are due within 2 days of your absence in accordance with school policy. All other assignments are due with the rest of the class.

Tardiness

Tardiness will be according to school policy. If you walk in after the bell, without a pass, you will be marked tardy. Multiple instances of tardiness or extreme tardiness will result in a detention. This will be left to my, or the person covering my classroom’s discretion.

Class Dismissal

Please do not interrupt class to leave, wait for a free moment in the lecture or discussion. Pass book agendas are required to leave the classroom during class. You are not free to leave when the bell rings. Do not line up at the door. It is not only polite to wait until you are dismissed, but you may also miss vital information for an assignment or test.
