Class Announcements
A new quarter, a new semester, and a new year have sneaked up on us. We now have a class size of 11. We have 6 sixth graders and 5 fifth graders. And each one adds to our class their very own gifts, talents, and personalities, making us exactly what God wants us to be. I am thrilled that God is counting us worthy!
This quarter will be a busy one. Students will be learning new concepts in both math and language as well as covering a lot of ground in history and science. Spelling will continue to challenge students as well.
I will be offering a helps class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-3:50 starting the week of January 23rd. If your student is struggling in math or language, please consider allowing them to attend this class. In order to hold their attention, it will only be 20 minutes and will focus on areas of struggle. There is no charge.
Our Star Party will be on Friday, February 2nd in the afternoon. This party is to celebrate students in 1st through 6th who have not lost more than 5 stars in the quarter. We have fun and games planned that I am sure the students will enjoy.
This quarter the 3rd-4th and the 5th-6th will be going on a fieldtrip. The details are still being worked out, and we will announce the plans to the students and parents as soon as everything has been confirmed.
5th and 6th grade students will need to purchase a tri-fold board (approx. $3.-4.) to be used for two projects coming up. These are due by Monday, February 6th. We will be cutting them in half to use for two separate things. Students will be using half of the board to decorate and use in class as a privacy board. They may cover it, color it, and even plaster it with pictures. These will be used during quizzes and tests or other times that the student needs privacy. The other use will be for a science project coming up in March. Details will go home in February.
Students will be required to have a compass and a protractor for math class within the next week or so. If they do not already have one (It was on the supply list.) they will need those items for class.
Candy needed! If you can donate candy for our class, please send it in over the next couple of weeks. It would be appreciated.
Thank you so much for entrusting me with your most precious treasures!
In Christ,
Mrs. Houghton
