Suggested Summer Reading List
Reading must become culture in our homes.
To be a better reader, you MUST practice reading. If students are not reading a 5.0 level book or higher, they are not reading on grade level.
Studies have proven there is a direct correlation between the number of words a child reads a day to a growth in reading fluency and comprehension. It is very important to prevent “Summer Slide” in reading. Pick out a good book and read to and with your child. Hold a family “Book Chat” to discuss a book that everyone can take part in reading. Stretch Read, Read to your child above his reading level. (Stretch reading should be guided to help children with words they may not understand in the context of a story.)
