Pray daily; participate in the Mass weekly, and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation monthly.    Take time to appreciate God's many gifts!

You are preparing for Confirmation. Confirmation preparation involves studying your faith and performing service.  When we give of ourselves and reach out to others in service-we welcome Christ, who lives in those we serve.

You should be involved in three service activities with your parent or sponsor duing these final months of preparation. Please complete the following information for each service activity.

Name

Date of service

Amount of time spent

Service activity performed

Why did you chose this service?

I learned Christian service means:

I believed the Holy Spirit helped me in this service activity by:

The information needs to be  signed  by you and  your sponsor or parent.  The sponsor or parent may write a comment if they would like to do so.

Vocabulary

Vocabulary word cards for each vocabulary lesson should be saved.  These cards are good for a quick review.  Remember to use the words in your writing and try to include them in your conversation.  The more you use the word, the more likely you are to recall it.  Remember to make your own list of voacabulary words from your reading.

Try a crossword puzzle.

The vocabulary book we use does have an on-line component.  Visit the site and try  some of the games.

Grammar/Writing

Here are two web sites to keep you brushed up on your skills:

www.grammarforwriting.com

http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/GRAMMAR

The more you write, the better your writing skills.  Write in a journal about things you read, movies you see, or even the news.  Try your hand at poetry or write a letter to a friend or family member or a person in the service.

Math

You should be using math in your life-- real world connections.

Have you gone out to eat and figured out the tip?  Have you shopped and estimated the amount being spent?  Look for the ads for items on sale, and calculate the percentage of savings.

Going on a trip? How many miles per gallon of gas;

how long will the trip take (rate of speed x time = distance)

Make something that requires you to measure ( cookies, rice krispy treats)

Visit some web sites to practice your skills.

Some suggested sites are:

www.mathforum.org

www.matti.usu.edu

www.suelebeau.com

www.Iknowthat.com

www.IXLmath.com     This web site allows for 20 free practice problems a day.  If you join, there is no limit.  If you practice just 20 problems each day, you can keep your skills sharp!

If you know you are weak in a particular skill put that subject in the search engine and see what web sites are available.  Review math vocabulary, too!
