The 7th grade will be working on word problems that concentrate on fractions, percents, decimals, and ratios. They will work together to solve these problems in a variety of ways. The students will also work on brain teasers that use these concepts.
The 8th grade students will work on brain teasers that stress algebraic equations. After several examples, the students will write one of their own.
The sixth grade students have been planning a trip to Australia! This project encourages the students to use a variety of math skills and information. They have researched plane tickets, distance, time , money, weather, and much more! ( Math is part of our everyday world in many ways.) They will now compile the information in a report. The report is due February 12,2009. The students will be given two class periods to work on this report. The students will also work on activities that extend fraction skills.
The fifth grade will study numerals in braille. the students will use this information to solve problems. (addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers) The students will create problems to share with their classmates.
