What it the Student Assistance Team? Also known as S.A.T.
Student Assistance Team
The Student Assistance Team (SAT) is a school based approach to dealing with the under-achievement and problem behaviors of any student. The program is based on three convictions: 1) Students who are worried about personal problems will not effectively learn, even in the best taught classes; 2) Schools are often the first system to observe the warning signs of troubled youth; and 3) Given their vested interest in student welfare, schools provide a logical setting in which to provide help to these students. How does the Student Assistance Team Work? The Student Assistance Team will respond to self-referrals or to referrals from staff, parents, student's friends or outside agencies. They will assess the nature and extent of the problem & follow-up to student and staff. This team is composed of administrators, school social worker, psychologist, guidance counselors, nurse, and teachers.The team also deals with school improvement issues, special education referrals, crisis intervention issues, etc. Team members are always available to receive input on student related concerns.

[Student Assistance Team]?If you wish to refer your son/daughter to the Student Assistance Team, please be sure to call me [Ms. Cortez- School Social Worker] at 649- 5396, Ext. 366 OR please, call me and we can make an appointment to further discuss your concerns about your son/daughter. Either way, if after our conversation, you still wish to make an SAT Referral; then together we will fill out the Student Assistance Team Referral Form over the phone or in person, with you.
