Classroom Happenings:

Thank you to everyone for the beautiful cards, flowers, and special gifts to let me know I am appreciated!  Although not necessary, I truly enjoyed reading each card and accepting such generous gifts.  Thanks again.

The Sumpter’s are back from their family trip and had a week full of wonderful memories.  Thank you for understanding my absence.  Steven leaves for Missouri on Tuesday and I will not see him until Thanksgiving.  Michael and I will be busy at Camp Cubber all summer!

We are counting down!  6 1/2 days until first grade!  Wow!  Here are a couple of things to make note of:

The exit conference sheet is now in the pod.  Please feel free to sign up to meet with me regarding summer suggestions and your child’s many accomplishments.  This is not mandatory or required, just available for you if desired.  Don’t feel the need to get a sitter, the students can sit in the pod area with a game or two while we chat.

This week we will be working on our Father’s Day gift.  Look for them to come in the mail just prior to Dad’s special day.  I hope all of you mothers enjoyed your portrait and poem.  They were all made with true love!

I hope everyone is planning to come to graduation.  You will want to bring anyone who will share in the joy of such a momentous occasion.  We will begin setting up in the lunchroom around 1:30pm just after they finish with the last lunches.  Anyone willing to help drop a tablecloth or two is welcome to join us.  The festivities will begin at 1:45pm.  Mrs. Evans is preparing a special dvd that includes an interview with each student.  It should be a fun time.  We are keeping it simple….cake, punch, a few songs, and just enjoying  each other for the last time as a whole class.  Regular uniforms are the dress code for that day.

This is the last week for homework!  Yipee!  Look for a “Summer Fun” folder to go home on Tuesday.  This is all optional work.  Remember though, studies show that students lose 60% of what they have learned the year prior if you do not reinforce it throughout the summer months.  I will also include my home address and hope some students will write “snail mail” to me.  I promised them if they write me first, I will write back and include a little special surprise.  This is also good writing practice!

Have a great remainder of the week!
