Progress Report
Greetings! As hard as it is to comprehend – we are already halfway through the first marking period. Progress reports have been sent home so everyone should be up to date on where they stand at this point in the trimester. We have gotten off to a wonderful start this year with high expectations all around. The staff has set departmental goals for our new systems approach to achieving excellence that we call Sustaining Organizational Achievement Requirements or SOAR. Students are also setting goals for achievement. In the Language Arts Lab, the 9th and 10th grades are completing Student Learning Plans where their goals will be recorded. The 11th and 12th graders will complete their goals in their Career Development or Portfolio class. Without personal goals we lack direction. The only way to be the #1 technical high school in Connecticut is to strive for excellence with goals to help us achieve our desired status. As always…Grasso Eagles SOAR! Comments or questions? IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS
We are monitoring the flu conditions at Grasso, as our goal is to keep our school open and functioning in a normal manner during the flu season, but we need your help to do this. We are seeing an increase in the number of students coming to school ill with flu like symptoms. In order to reduce the spread of illness, please keep your sick child home. The school nurse will not excuse a child who comes to school ill. Please do not allow your child to return to school until their fever is less than 100 degrees for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
Here are some things you can do to help prevent the spread of the flu including H1N1:
- Remind your child to wash his/her hands frequently during the day, especially before eating, after using the bathroom, after gym class or use of shared equipment, and after blowing his/her nose. Please consider sending your child to school with a small bottle of hand sanitizer to use when not near soap and water.
- Remind your child not to share personal items like food and drink, lip gloss or lip balms, and uniforms.
- Remind your child to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues. When tissues are not available, advise your child to cover coughs and sneezes using an elbow, arm or sleeve instead of the hand.
As always...if you have questions or concerns please email me at kerry.bell@ct.gov.
