The letter Ee!

So far we have covered every letter in the alphabet!  We have looked VERY closely at the letters Mm, Bb, Ss, Tt, Ff, Aa, Cc, Pp, Nn, Ii, Hh, Rr, Ll, Dd, Gg, Oo, Kk, Ww, Jj, Vv, Qq, Ee, Xx, Yy and now Zz.  There is only one letter left and it's Uu.  I am expecting your child to know the sounds of these letters for sure! Continue to work with your children on the sound that each letter of the alphabet makes.  Through the end of the year we will work on vowels, writing sentences on our own with no or very little help and addition and subtraction.

It is very important for your child to be reading his/her word wall words to you each night.  So far they have been:  a, the, at, can, cat, dog, mom, dad, I, am, like, is, big, in, it, but, boy, girl, yes, no, play, do, have, look, little, my, me, not, see, we, one, two, three, what, where, yellow, you, red, blue, not, he, here, said, do, that.  If they have been misplaced please put them on some 3X5 index cards to practice.  If they "memorize" the order, shuffle them up!  It would be a great idea for them to write sentences using word wall words.  One a night is sufficient.  It is still very easy to see who practices these words at home and who doesn't!  Please keep in mind that they will be expected to know ALL of these kindergarten words upon entering first grade.  They will get a whole new set of words for first grade that is a lot larger than the K words!
