Vocabulary word associations:

You will be given a list of words. Create 2 frames for each word.  On the first frame you should have an image/photograph of the word. On the second frame you should have the word in Spanish and a way to remember the word that is related to the meaning of the word. You will be graded on spelling, accuracy and task completion.  All work is due at the beginning of class. You should email your power point to doctorasummey@gmail.com before 6pm on the due date.

Example: Frame 1: (picture of a book)  Frame 2: "libro- a library has lots of these"

Cultural Presentations:

You will be assigned a cultural topic for each chapter. Find 5 images/photographs about your topic. Under each image you will create a simple sentence in Spanish that describes or explains the picture.  Each sentence must include either a vocabulary word or a structure from the chapter being studied. Do not use any online, human nor electronic translators.  You will be reading your sentences to the class as you present. You will be graded on content, accuracy and pronunciation. Honor Code

Academic Honesty: with the number of cases involving academic honesty increasing on college campuses, students will abide by the Reinhardt College Academic Integrity Policy.  All work submitted by a student is expected to be their own and without the aid of electronic translators.

 Attendance and Grade Policy

- Attendance is required since classroom drills on pronunciation and oral listening activities are part of the language learning process.  Given the limited number of class meetings, attendance is critical.  You will be required to make up any missed class time  in the following ways:

1. an equal amount of tutoring at the library through Student Support Services. The tutor will document the hours and send an email to me at jfs@reinhardt.edu.

 2. for each hour of class missed: an in-depth 500 word essay on an approved topic.

All hours must be made up by the day of the Final Exam. Failure to do so will result in a 10 point deduction from your final grade for each absence.  Arriving late and /or  leaving class early are considered cumulative and will count towards an absence.

-If you have a conflict with the final exam day please contact Ms. Viviana Baxter for permission to make other arrangements. This should be done before the last class.

-Assignments that are turned in late will be accepted for partial credit (50%) up to the day of the final exam. This includes homework and presentations. All work is due before 6pm and if submitted electronically, should be emailed to doctorasummey@gmail.com

-Your full attention is needed so you can optimize learning. To avoid distracting yourself and others, please put away all electronic devices during class. If there is an emergency, feel free to excuse yourself to make phone calls/send text messages outside the class.
