My Biography
Hello BUCCANEERS!
I am Deborah Lopez. I grew up in Biloxi and have lived in Mississippi for
most of my life. My two grown children are Melissa and Erik. My two 4-legged
children are Bear and Lucky.
In my professional career, I graduated from the University of Southern
Mississippi with a Bachelor degree in Education. I taught school in
Hattiesburg, MS then we moved to Florida. While there, I was employed by
the Pinellas County School System for 16 years. I worked with the Title
One Program, the Technology program and taught first grade four years.
I have been employed with the Gulfport School District since August of
2002. I taught at the original 28th. Street Elementary until Hurricane
Katrina passed through. My class was housed at West Elementary until last
year when the new 28th. Street was reopened. It is a real joy to be back!
I love working with children. I believe that we all learn at our own
individual pace. Each child is capable of learning and can learn. It is
my responsibility as a teacher to find out what works best for each student
and help him or her to reach their potential.
When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family, watching
movies, reading and hanging out with my dogs Bear and Lucky.
