- In the morning ALL students being dropped off by parents must be dropped off at the rear of the building. NO parent traffic is allowed in the front parking lot. Band students will need to enter through the doors nearest the tennis courts at the rear of the building.
- This website and another website called CHARMS will help you get important information, updates and schedules. Click on this CHARMS link for more information. Throughout the year you will need to visit both this website and CHARMS to stay updated, since they each offer different information. You will need your unique DMS BAND student ID number and the code DMSBand. Students will be supplied with their unique DMS BAND student ID number.

Preferred Instruments and Required Supplies
Below you can find a list of Preferred Instruments and Supplies that will list everything you'll need to start the school year. If you take the list to any local music store, they'll be able to help you. If you don't know where any stores are, just click here for some suggestions. Please email if you have any questions! THESE ITEMS ARE REQUIRED FOR EVERYONE
- BOOK: "Essential Elements 2000 Book 1" for student's instrument (except percussion - see below)
- Black 1 in. binder with plastic protector sheets
- 2 Pencils at all times for class
- SUGGESTED ONLY: Folding music stand for home practice
- SUGGESTED ONLY: Metronome for home practice (keeps the beat...can also be found for free over the internet)
- SUGGESTED ONLY: A tuner (Korg C30 or similar) is also recommended
SPECIFIC INSTRUMENT SUPPLIES
FLUTE
- Brands - Yamaha, Gemeinhardt, Emerson (open hole flutes with plugs required)
- Supplies - Cleaning cloth, polishing cloth, tuning rod
OBOE
- Instrument available from DMS Band
- Two "medium" strength reeds
- Silk swab, cork grease, silver polishing cloth, empty 35mm film canister with lid (for reeds)
BASSOON
- Instrument available from DMS Band
- Two "medium" strength reeds
- Fox bassoon swab, bassoon drop swab, cork grease, silver polishing cloth, empty 35mm film canister with lid (for reeds)
CLARINET
- Brands - Buffet, Selmer, Yamaha (wooden clarinet recommended)
- Vandoren 5 RV lyre mouthpiece with cap and ligature
- Two #2.5 reeds (Vandoren preferred - individual reeds or boxes available)
- Buffet hanky swab, cork grease (you may also want a thumb rest cushion and Vibra Ease Mouthpiece Cushion)
BASS CLARINET
- Instrument available from DMS Band
- Two #2.5 reeds (Vandoren preferred- individual reeds or boxes available)
- Buffet hanky swab, cork grease (you may also want a thumb rest cushion, Vibra Ease Mouthpiece Cushion)
ALTO SAXOPHONE
- Brands - Yamaha, Selmer, Conn
- Selmer C* with cap and Selmer ligature
- Two #2.5 reeds (Vandoren preferred- individual reeds or boxes available)
- Chamois swab, cleaning cloth, neck strap, cork grease (you may also want a Vibra Ease Mouthpiece Cushion)
TRUMPET
