Parent Letter, Art Fee, and Supply List
Cecily Cummings, Art 6-8
Dear Parents,
Hello, my name is Mrs. Cecily Cummings, and I am pleased to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I would like to welcome both you and your child to my art class. I look forward to a productive and fun year of artistic accomplishment. I will strive each day to make art education a fun and creative process for your child.
Before I begin to work with you and your child, let me first tell you about myself. I am a native a Gulfport, MS. I am currently working on a Master’s degree in art education at William Carey University and currently own “Bella Bleu Art Studio and Gallery” in Gulfport. It is now my great desire to pass on my love of art to your child and give him or her an understanding and appreciation of art processes and a working knowledge of art history. I would love for your child to leave my class with the ability to use creativity in his or her everyday life.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege as well as a great responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone: I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they are working to the best of their ability. I have attached a copy of our classroom rules and consequences for you to read and discuss with your child. I ask that you both please sign the rules sheet and return it to class as soon as possible.
I have also attached a classroom supply list. Please have your child bring these items in next week—they are crucial supplies for our class activities. The art department also requires a $5.00 art fee per nine weeks ($10 for semester, $20 for year-long class). Without turning in the fee, your child may not be able to participate in some class activities (like paper mache and clay). Please send in with the signed copy of the rules.
I will be posting additional information soon regarding upcoming class events and course lesson plans on the Bayou View Middle School website: http://www.gulfportschools.org/SCHOOLS/BVMS/BAYOU_VIEW_MIDDLE_SCHOOL/index.htm. Feel free to call me at (228) 865-4633 with any questions or comments. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cecily Cummings
