Tuesday, December 4th
Students had a journal check for a daily grade. Students read Scene One of The Glass Menagerie and answered the Scene One Journal Question. Students contributed to their Literary Device Journals.
Monday, December 3rd
Students set up their journals to take notes on literary devices as used in Tennessee Williams' play The Glass Menagerie. Students completed a short lesson on denotation and connotation for extra practice.
Friday, November 30th
Students discussed and wrote down definitions for fifteen Grade 11 Assurance Words. Students will take a quiz over these words on December 11th.
Tuesday, 11/27 -Thursday, 11/29
Students presented PowerPoint presentations to the class. While viewing the presentations of their peers, students completed a Literary Device Dictionary using the definitions and examples from the presentations.
Monday, November 26th
Students participated in an Agree/ Disagree discussion focused on the ideas of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Students read "Self-Reliance" by Emerson and answered several application questions about the essay. Finally, students adopted a persona and composed a letter to Emerson expressing the views of that persona toward "Self-Reliance."
Monday, 11/19 - Tuesday, 11/20
Students worked in computer lab to create PowerPoint projects demonstrating analysis of American Gothic short stories for literary devices.
