1/19 - Prompt writing: Imagine that one morning you wake up and find that you are now a grown-up. What would you think? How would you feel? Would you be happy or scared? How would your family react? Where would you go for the day, and what would you do? Write a story about the day you woke up and found that you were a grown-up. Include a title, a beginning, middle, and ending, 3 paragraphs with the first sentence of each paragraph indented. Write a graphic organizer (story web) before you start writing the story.

1/23 - 1/31 - Preparing for the February 1st writing assessment. No spelling until after the writing assessment. Here are three prompts you can use to practice while you are out. Make sure they are at least a page long each, at least three paragraphs. Make sure you complete a graphic organizer for each story before you begin writing it. Think about all the things that you need to include in your story: creativity (thinking outside the box), $100 descriptive words, figurative language, and dialogue. Make sure your story has a beginning, middle, and an end. Tell what happened, what you saw or where you went, and how you felt.
Reread your story when you finish writing it. Does it make sense? Look for mistakes to correct or ways to make your story better when you finish it.
1. Writing situation: Most students have a favorite book. Pretend one day your favorite book pulled you into the story.
