Welcome to 2OD/LA!

Your child will get a spelling list every Monday.  We have a number of different lists each week, so the number of spelling words might vary.  The lists are individualized based on a pre-test we take each Monday.  Your child will have homework Monday through Thursday, with the test on Friday.

Wednesday: Spelling Sentences

Thursday: Let's Spell Review

Your child will have math homework Monday through Thursday.  It is usually a Home Link based on the lesson we did in Math Class that day.  Sometimes we send home a skill practice page instead.

Every week, we get a new fluency story for homework.  The students should read the story aloud to a family member who is older than they are (mom, dad, babysitter, older sibling, grandparent, etc.).  When they read the story to you, please sign the fluency story cover sheet each night.  They also need to answer the comprehension questions that go with the story.  Fluency stories are due on Friday each week.

The goal of reading the fluency stories is to promote more fluent reading each time they read their story.  You should notice a difference in their phrasing, feeling, and time taken from Monday to Friday.  We really want the children to show expression while they read.
